Pop Culture

Pop culture, short for popular culture, refers to the set of ideas, practices, beliefs, and objects that are prevalent and widely accepted within mainstream society at a given time. It encompasses a variety of cultural elements, including music, fashion, entertainment (such as movies, television, and video games), sports, and slang that are dominant or trending among the general public. Pop culture is often driven by mass media and reflects the tastes, interests, and attitudes of the majority, making it influential in shaping social norms and values. It can change rapidly as new trends emerge and older ones fade. The term is often contrasted with “high culture,” which is associated with more elite, sophisticated, or traditional forms of art and culture.
