Football

Football is a team sport that is played between two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s goal, which is often accomplished using any part of the body except the hands and arms, although goalkeepers are permitted to use their hands within the penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and is governed internationally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

Football has various forms, with the most popular being association football (also known simply as soccer in some countries). It is characterized by its continuous play, teams attempting to outscore each other, and often involves strategy, skill, and physical endurance. Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with a massive following and cultural significance, leading to events such as the FIFA World Cup, which attracts global attention.
